I did think the same thing and when looking back at the Lawrence and Livermore announcement it states that the main focus was on "Imaging HME Materials Characterisation" which sounds a lot like the "Pattern Recognition" mentioned in the UK contract.
Who knows they could both play a part.
I have also sent an email to Peter Rowland asking him to clarify whether they are still pursuing a contract with Lawrence & Livermore or whether this UK contract in stead of the Lawrence & Livermore. I will let you know if I get a response
