Nobody was "waiting to drive the knife in".
This isn't ancient Rome.
There was a gap of about three weeks between the release of the strategy and DCB being fired.
During that gap, the SP collapsed.
The Board didn't anticipate that.
The Board wasn't happy about it.
Maybe the Board should have anticipated what happened, but they didn't.
If the SP hadn't collapsed, DCB would still be CEO and the strategy would be being implemented.
