I see this as important background work for the IND for the planned US trials, although more important for future FDA approval.
I think the planned US trials will start immediately or soon after patent submission. I think the GMP process described above will also be input to the patent documentation.
I think the SAB member that joined in May would have had some input to activities that have been underway:
