At the risk of massive over-generalisation: the US seems to have a default attitude of ‘yes we can’ (or at least try), whilst Oz is ‘no you can’t’ (unless we say so). I’m currently visiting US family, and am always struck by the positive business energy here. A combination of population size and concentration (15x pop. translating into 1000x transactional possibilities) and the conscious emphasis on personal freedom.
Sure, Oz was spared the worst ravages of the GFC through the banks’ risk-aversion. Ideally one might live there and run a business in the US.
