In both trial annoucements it's not only the annoucement but also about the person taking it on. In both cases, the scientist's aren't hacks and respected in their industry (they won't take on a lemon). So it's also to show they're exectuing (which is awesome) and that we're (RACE) confident on the trial outcome to expend the amount of money needed to get a respected scientist to have a crack. Plus, a whole bunch of other things.
