I think it was something around having to do a trial on certain cancers to get info about FTO to then be able to do a targeted FTO trial. As they were in a catch 22. They couldn’t run a purely FTO trial in humans without data proving the effect of Bisantrene on FTO. So they are running a trial on melanoma and CCRC to get the data necessary for the FTO targeted trial.
(apologies if I’m way off but that was the way I understood it. Which doesn’t necessarily mean much haha)
With the FTO expression so high in Melanoma I’d say this is why it was chosen.
