Race has a very supportive institutional investor (Merchant). I know from conversations with other biotechs that they wish they had an institutional investor as supportive as Merchant.
Institutional investors are in the business of looking after their investors. One of the ways they do this is by investing in a company via heavily discounted capital raises and then on-selling the cheap shares to retail investors. Rinse and repeat.
Race during my time was one of those all too rare companies where the retail shareholders were always looked after by the company. Unfortunately, the company can’t stop ex-directors from selling, but at least at Race it was done in the open and everyone was made aware on this selling.
