It's fair to say that Australian Biotech companies are now valued higher than previous but to exclude a further analysis on the type of treatment and for what disease is a mistake IMHO. My portfolio currently includes 6 Aussie biotech companies with my larger holdings being in RAC, IMU and NEU. RAC and IMU have multibagged for me and I am thrilled about both. I've held NEU for more than 10 years and am still behind in $'s and they are in the final process (a few months away) of Phase 3 testing. The only real difference I can see right now is that both RAC and IMU are in the oncology space and there is a lot of $'s to be earnt if they get it right whereas NEU is in a much smaller, less known area of medicine.
I can't claim to have done the required analysis but maybe the reason for the higher values today is because we have some companies that look like being successful in markets where higher values are the norm.
