Thanks to Melbourne shareholders for the welcome on Wednesday. A great day (even with Virgin canceling my early flight from Adelaide and delaying the next, so unfortunately arriving after Pete’s presentation. But I know the stuff on that level, if not at Mason’s lol).
Some takeaways over drinks, food and bonhomie: the main risks are (1) execution (sure, measure 1000x and cut once, but human error can’t be eliminated or we wouldn’t be human… the missed late-night decimal point that misdirects the spacecraft…); and (2) external events such as geopolitical ones.
Another topic was that market penetration depends on insurance companies paying the extra $15K/dose, and that in the US many are uninsured.
A concern of my own is the US/Western pharma establishment closing ranks. AFAIK the FDA is ‘owned’ by BP (like the Fed by private banks) -insiders like von Hoff are crucial. An upstart newcomer is never welcome to upset the apple cart. Starting the game off in Asia looks like a good move.
