Stewpid domestic gas reservation policies disincentivise investment in exploration and create a permanent structural supply crisis ultimately resulting in higher prices for the domestic consumers the policy was designed to benefit. It’s as stewpid as it gets.
The only sensible policy that will reduce long term gas pricing by guaranteeing rolling supply that is replaced as needed is to slash regulatory hurdles, hand out government cash in the form of exploration grants, attractive tax incentives, loans, permitting give aways, etc and create a free open market including international and cross state export, build pipelines, whatever it takes to turn Australia into the Qatar of the Southern Hemisphere. Australia has the gas. More than enough. The vast majority of Australia’s missing wealth has been stranded by decades of politicians from all sides of the political spectrum with short term self interest where their gonads should live. Even the girls. Australians would be paying no income tax by now if Australia had got it’s act together on gas policy for the last few decades.
Vote out bogun politicians with blinkered vision pandering to minority lunatic feral fringes. Entrust power to politicians with the future vision and the balls to match.

    #Here endeth the lesson.
