Hey yachty I sailed 2 years out of Darwin (1968/9) on Marine Contractors barges all around from WA to Cape York on different charters and 5 trips to the Timika River in Indonesian New Guinea (when the giant Freeport copper mine was a couple of huts).
Your views on Mother Nature mirror mine exactly although I gotta say my concerns re the siting of the FPSO are totally mercenary ... if I, a greedy, grubby, capitalist, has doubts on an inshore mooring, the greenies would be screaming the roof down ... and that could be avoided by applying for an off-shore site.
I spent years on tankers and finished my working life spending decades in an oil refinery and have faith that the FPSO would be a safe bet inshore but we will never convince the loony left ... we gotta play it safe and get it out of sight.
