Taboon I am not sure what you are on about or why you are on this forum talking down a stock you don't own.
Firstly projects big or small aren't getting too much interest. Sundance (which is one I know you are a fan of) isn't exactly setting the world alight despite having a huge resource. Still down 75% since January isn't it?
Whereas WDR (Western Desert) is a 3mtpa somewhat high cost soon to be producer with a market cap of $300m - roughly what Sundance is with their HUGE 'world class' resource.
Bottom line SDL and EQX will re-rate closer to their true valuation when there is a defined path to production. Both companies are currently working on this.
Secondly your comment that 'small projects will be the first to fold' is a really uneducated statement. What defines the longevity of a project isn't the amount of production but the cost of production. If Iron Ore falls to $80 EQX's Mayoko project will remain profitable as our cost of production is $41 and our Ore will be sold at a PREMIUM to the prevailing 62% benchmark price due to the higher grade. Why would they fold?? We are low on the cost curve with a premium Iron Ore production...this is what defines who folds and who doesn't. There are some massive producers in China with a cost of production of over $110. Will they keep on producing with an Iron Ore price at $90 just because they are 'big'.
Size of the project is not what is key...it is profitability. Economics 101.
And finally mark my words EQX's Mayoko project will be in production well before SDL and we will re-rate on the back of it. Why...because our Capex is about $200m....SDL is in the billions. Big projects = Big investment = Bigger risk. Small projects = Smaller investment = faster payback = less risk. There are pros and cons with big and small projects and that does not make one better than the other. The return on investment is what counts and I know the EQX rate of return is pretty damn high. Payback period < 2 years with a 23 year mine life and growing.
All in all I am not bagging SDL and I hope for your sake that the project gets off the ground after all these years. But for you to come on an EQX forum with no stock held - just to bag the stock is ignorant. I mean if you are going to bag the stock base it on some form of research or evidence. Not just because it is 'small'.
