I can't be bothered reading up on other companies. The few I'm aware of that spun off assets into a new company all offered shareholders free shares in the new company. That REE will give us shares in the new company is your opinion. It may be a valid opinion, who knows - but it clearly isn't an opinion supported in that announcement.
As for paying for our own assets - if REE does not give us shares in the new company but expects us to pay for them - then yes, I very much see that as being asked to pay again for assets we already own
