No party, even the loony left have not nor would ever turn down a mining license in an historical mining district which is not viable for anything else...I live not far from central Otago. Tyme, rabbits and rocks....but obviously still gold. The gold mine down the road is a large employer with a huge financial contribution to the surrounding towns and the city of Dunedin... just saying....
