While I don't want to get into a discussion of shorting, this makes no sense:
"added to my holding at the end of the day"
If you are short, you have no holding, you have sold borrowed stock. You cover, take profits (in the example from 5.9 to 5.4, or similar), and by covering, are no longer in a short position. You have no position.
So, he he cannot have "added to holding".
Maybe it's poor usage of English, I don't know.
OTOH, if as another Poster asked, he sold a long position and took profits, then caught it again on the dip at 5.4 (assuming it goes back up), that is excellent trading. But it's not short selling in the normal usage of the term.
