Northern star didn't take a 10% stake to make a few bags, the board would not have approved it.
They've taken a stake IMO as their geological team as interpreted the drilling results and if they continue to expand the resource on the Alaska project they've secured 10% of the voting power if they want to do a take over.
All the big Au miners are actively looking for additional resources prior to gold breaking above $2000us and they are especially looking for Au/Cu deposits so they can tick the ESG box and be sustainable mining companies.
The main reason Newmont are going after Newcrest is because they have huge Cu reserves in addition to their Au deposits. Evolution is the next in line for Cu holdings and Northern star has bugger all.
If they want to tick the ESG box they are going to have to pull their finger out quick.

If it pulls back to 1c it will be the spec buy of this quarter for sure but it's a great buy right here on the 200 day MA and we might not see it at these levels again...
