Mineral Resources has done very well 'direct shipping ore' from its Pilbara operation. It is only being scaled back because CE, being a very astute dude, wants to keep more of the value adding onshore.
While the rather significant Greenbushes mine, owned by U.S. interests, has only recently moved to do initial processing at Kemerton; after some time of shipping the unprocessed ore.
