Yes, 70g sounds like a lot. But not when you consider the results of the toxicity study Announcement from the 10th of February. Specifically, they found no adverse effects from in-vivo testing at up to EIGHTY TIMES an effective dose of 50mg over 7 days. Even dosing at TWO HUNDRED AND FORTY TIMES an effective dose, it took 5 days for adverse effects to be evident.
So, in that context 70g doesn't sound so bad, when it appears you could consume 840g for five days before showing clinical signs of dosage limit.
I respectfully disagree. They are not diverting attention away from the "main game".
RCE will not have to divert significant resources, as CSIRO and the Doherty Insititute will be conducting the trials, leaving RCE to continue to work towards the "main game".
I think it was worthwhile to test for efficacy against Enveloped Viruses, given that they were potential susceptible to the same vector of attack as Bacteria. This increases the scope of the product, but other than that testing (which was conducted by an independent research organistation, rather than RCE resources) there seems to have been no diversion from the "main game", i.e. Sepsis. These results are cream on the cake, so to speak; they do not replace the cake.
