I don't understand what the carping is about.
This is an excellent announcement because (again) it positions gtg as a legitimate genetics company, not a patent enforcing cash cow.
It looks like good PR and may also make a fortune when commercialised. Think of the money involved in testing for this and other 'lifestyle' genes. the problem is people are too focused on medicine to see past their noses.
In the near future, a bank of genetic tests may be used instead of those crappy tests employers use on graduates.
