    Hi stevegd/chewy/fellowes111,
Obviously there is much to be considered in deciding the material selection for the next gen. of bore pipes.

Fellowes111 has given a good coverage of the general range of metallic pipes used. It can be seen how hard it would be to find a perfect choice where a range of chemical conditions + pressure/temperature variations have to be met. One alloy might cover most things perfectly but trip on just one factor.

The Fibre Reinforced Plastics, (FRP's), sounds good in so many ways stevegd. Would have one reaching for the spec's manuals.
Would they be capable of meeting the temperature conditions?
Or the physical stresses of expansion /contraction/ (large I would think for this sort of material)? + the amount of weight and tension imposed on itself at some stages.
Would be great for easier handling and could possibly be manufactured on site. Like next door to the Innaminka pub.

ps. Thanks for your support fellowes111 and scoop1 with
the post from floatingcow. He's OK. A little young and cheeky. Certainly not serious enough for me.
