I was wondering why there was such a gap of valuation between REA (market cap of 28 bn$) and Domain (1.9 bn$).
A large part of this is simply explained by the difference of earnings : NPAT of 461 m$ for REA vs 50 m$ for Domain.
This difference of earnings is due both to revenues and margins :
- revenues* of REA of 1,453 m$ vs 393 m$ for Domain,
- EBITDA margin of 56.8 % for REA vs 33.5 % for Domain.
* looking at one recent example, there was a premium of 22 % for REA ads vs Domain ads.
