Old established companies often have to go through juddering changes to keep up with the times. Some survive, some adapt, some reinvent themselves and others just into the annals of history. Which one will Slater & Gordon be? I have no idea but actually hope as a legal services business it survives however I would be fairly sure SGH in its current form as a recognised listed entity is sunsetting.
Here are some examples of companies that managed to go from being great to being a ghost in a short space of time due to misguided enthusiasm, executive dominance and investor naivety.
SGH got Andrew Grech
MGC got Gary Helou
NWT got Adrian Ballantyne
ONE.tel got Jodie Rich
TEN got Lachlan Murdoch, oops this one hasn't happened yet.
...the list is long and you don't need to go too far back history.
