Retail shareholders should understand the cornerstone holders of this company, the Kirby's are old money and most unlikely to see VRL fail.
I can only suspect those here calling the company's collapse really don't understand how large essentially "private" business works.
Closure of all entertainment sites for 3- 9 months will cut deep and leave a scar. These is no question that the business is severely weakened (like the AFL). However, the gradual return to "normal" consumer behaviour over the course of 2021 and thereafter, will shore up negative cash flows for most businesses including VRL.
In the mean time, look for the head count to fall (forever), capex to fall, discretionary expenditures to fall and related party transactions to fall. VRL like many companies will be leaner and meaner and PE will return in 3 or 4 years.
As an owner on and off for over 20 years, this is just another year or 2 of drought conditions that will chasten management and lead to a better run business.
And by the way, the large lines of stock many of us secured a couple of weeks ago under 80c, brought a tear to my eye reminiscent of when my biggest holdings was accumulated under 75c decades ago. Naturally, when those holdings delivered a 5 bag return, it was time to sell. When they became a 10 bag more were sold (regrettably not all).
The share price of VRL is like their theme park roller coasters with the only exception being, you are supposed to jump off at the top using the golden parachute provided.
Nothing changes in the investment world other than a new bunch of investors needing to learn lessons. Unfortunately, the arrival of the internet has mischievously dressed up punters as investors. But they are just punters in a marketplace that they know nothing about. At least at the track or the casino, you know you have lost your shirt on the same day. In the share market, that outcome can be stretched out to, gee... one business cycle!
