As with Cleveland, Glenn was just a non-exec director and ultimately it is the executives that likely burnt it to the ground, just like how Glenn was a non-exec for HVY. Using your analogy, it means that HVY will end up like Cleveland through no fault of Glenn as again he is just a non-exec, as ultimate the company direction (or lack therof) is determined by the exec and chairman. The difference is Glenn is trying to fight back in; must mean that he is too invested in the company to see it go down the likes of Cleveland and NES.
