At the risk of bringing negative attention here but I think we will all see this in the news… but looks fairly weak from Apple and good news for us. SOS only and also from what I read GSAT need to raise capital and they need to build and launch satellites still and talk of 2025. Maybe sooner if Apple help I guess. Says free for 2 years but am sure will be a fee at some stage! A video I watched addressed connectivity can be hard and there is an app to help you point in the right direction so hardly confidence building. Does not mention texting at this stage. Add in iPhone are fragile and what not I don’t think the true frequent hiker/explorer will ditch their stand alone device especially as no messaging here and cost to upgrade phone if don’t need to otherwise. This SOS is just a little add on for the once or twice a year remote type like me who’s goes fishing and if happened to come a cropper in a spot where couldn’t get reception could help me. Garmin share price unaffected and up 3%.
