Battery life and signal strength still the main blockers, but they'll improve over time.

The immediate viewpoint to this is:
For the person who goes on the odd 4hr hike or something, the iPhone will do the job.

But if you go one step further, I imagine this will bring SOS devices to become a standard option. Where people didn't previously concern themselves with SOS devices, they may become a necessity to take on camping trips, etc.

Who knows how this will play out. But current BCC valuation gives you so much room for error, it doesn't matter if Apple takes some demand.
