I remember hearing that comment and thinking, maybe he has brought into the school of over promising and under delivering that management is famed for.
If there was news, then the company should’ve come out with an update (continuous disclosure) rather than a recorded comment in presentation that hints as much. Either way (good or bad news) does not reflect particularly well on the speaker in my view.
