My friend made a coin with market cap of billions on his own. The trading volume is only thousands of dollars every few days though, so he can only really get thousands of dollars out of it without crashing the price, not millions or billions, unless the trading volume was way higher.
The market cap is billions though because people are hungry to speculate on any coin, with no consideration of the fundamentals. They jut bid the price up and up and up, then down and down and repeat.
