A few thousands batteries here and there for grid is all well and nice and will create marketing knowledge and gravitas .. but it seems that the biggest opportunity is for individual houses .. millions and millions of houses .. that should ideally have storage to charge vehicles, power aircon etc.

Having batteries at the point of generation (roof top solar) and use (charge your car overnight) while coal is phased out and transmission lines aren't sufficient .. seems to make a tad more sense.

Match this with the development of a smart grid, where you can sell your excess stored power to your "neighbours" and things would seem to get interesting?

AEMO announced $12.7 billion for new transmissions works ..

    $12 billion @ at $6000 (say) per home = 2 million homes with a battery @ 10kwh storage each.

That is ~ 1/4 of all the households in Australia straight up.

Even at twice that price for install ..

    Am I missing something?!?

Of course the power boys won't like that idea.

    $12 billion to Redflow .. hmmm ..
