Great article. Shows how early in stage and caution and departments that governments are in exploring options of many technologies and still waiting for the better solutions to be invented or be manufactured at scale. Very odd IMO for a defense facility for example to be thinking about firming and time shifting when in reality they are large energy users and should have very competitive energy supply contracts with local providers and manage their own peaking. Hardening energy supply also shows the network issues in various countries who are heading more green solutions without infrastructure that is lagging. The Italy base still baffles me on several fronts so there must be specific reason that is critical to trial new technology like RFX as i the big picture the capacity it provides is small compared to total base usage etc.
