Lynas should be in a good position though like MP materials they still rely on processing & supply chains linked to China
Lynas is making progress towards being free of reliance on China however the Texas facility is still a way off being operational
Both Lynas & MP have US govt / DoD backing
All REE mines, processing & supply chains outside of China are still years away from having scale significant enough to be completely independent of China processing & supply
ASM still have an opportunity to play a significant part in mining & metallisation
However it arguably requires a bold move to simply start mining Dubbo or a JV with an existing operational mine
ASM have been trying to secure feedstock for some time & it's a real catch 22 at the moment with binding supply contracts & binding feedstock input contracts
Vietnam looked promising but is it really all that surprising that fraud & corruption & Chinese meddling popped up to bite ASM?!?
It's understandable ASM are reluctant or struggling to find supply contracts & financing for Dubbo
It's disappointing that ASM has become wedged & a bit stuck trying to work it's way into supplying critical minerals - seems like supply chains are being manipulated & gate kept & once again part of trade & diplomatic stoushes
I still own Lynas & ASM however as time ticks on it seems like ASM should be focusing on JV opportunities to at least run KMP at capacity & start generating income that can see Dubbo mined
Not confident ASM can setup & negotiate profitable deals with anyone without a JV partner or two
