@AUchemist
Both the Provincial and NZ Federal governments are very supportive of mine development. As you can see with the NZ Government has developed a Provincial Growth Fund that provided Federation Gold with a low interest $15million loan to build the Blackwater gold mine, which is next door to Siren's Alexander River deposit.
Advent Gold, backed by Canadian billionaire Eric Sprott and Clive Palmers' Mineralogy are also in NZ developing gold mines.
The other thing to consider is that Siren Gold's Alexander RIver mine will be an underground gold mine, where only a 6metre x 6metre hole will be made, compared to all the rest that are open pits and are between 300metres to 500metres in diametre.
Siren's underground Alexander RIver will have a significantly smaller environmental impact than the existing open pit mines in operation, purely on the back of significantly less amount of rock that needs to be moved to mine the high grade gold.
Oceana Gold, Federation Gold, MGP Partnership etc below are all gold mines in operation all around Siren Gold's tenements in Pink.
Siren Gold's Paul Angus has been exploring and developing gold mines in NZ for the last 35+ years, so you would expect him to have an excellent relationship with the government during that time.
Brian Rodan is one of the best underground miners in Australia over the last 40 years, so between the two of them and the nature of the underground mine, this shouldn't be an issue.
Alexander River's high-grade gold is sitting in these structurally controlled quartz lodes and shoots, which are exposed from the surface and halo mineralisation in the surrounding rock (1-3metres from the quartz).
As Siren commences the construction of the underground mine at Alexander River, from surface.
The rock that they will be extracting to make the decline(underground mine) is actually the high grade gold quartz (above) and selling the gold from it. There is no overburden/cover that needs to be displaced like many other gold projects where they start 100-200metres below surface.
This significantly reduces the Capex as well as brings forward cashflow and profit by at least 3-6 months, compared to most other underground gold mines.
