Nickel being processed by Ramu is Laterite whereas the Ni that LCL have so far been chasing is sulphide. There is acknwoledgement that Laterites exist on LCL tenements... Sulphides attract a premium when discovered in significant quantities and if LCL can find a monster it should be able to exceed what SIR got for Nova from IGO over a decade ago of $1.8B. Sulphides traditionally seen to be easier to process and less capital intensive than laterites. I'd be happy with either but certainly happy to see this forward facing strategy take shape.
Ramu have certainly hit their straps in recent times with all their learnings from this project giving their project developers Enfi (MCC) an advantage for developing the next generation of HiPAL plants particularly in Indonesia.
