Enron, Madoff, Worldcom etc etc were all audited US companies. Fraud happens yes, I think we all understand that. I invest in the sharemarket and understand this risk exists for ALL stocks albeit extremely unlikely. Now, I can invest my money in gold and build a doomsday preppers bunker or continue to invest with the faith that auditors and regulators are doing a better job than ever. Fingers crossed.
