Basically, if you-know-who isn't calling back or has gone to ground, the only logical reason is that rumours of supposed deals have fallen over or haven't come through yet and they probably never will.

The other thing I am half expecting to hear is "oh, the big deal fell over because there was public chatter on HotCopper". That's when you know that these supposed deals were BS all along. If a deal can fall over because of spurious chatter on HC then it was never a deal in the first place, it was a scam.

I'm still half-expecting to hear it though.
