Monadelphous has lost $200 million worth of work in the South West after Albemarle abruptly yanked construction and maintenance contracts linked to its shrinking lithium processing facility.

The Victoria Park-headquartered contractor was nearly 20 per cent of the way through works for two new lithium processing trains at Kemerton under a contract awarded in July 2023.

Monadelphous told the market it had been informed by the US lithium giant on Thursday morning that its contracts had been “terminated for convenience”. The contractor said it had been verbally notified that maintenance services and sustaining capital contracts had also been terminated.
