I guess that's one for the lawers - I'd hesitate to ask the CGB legals though lol..

It's a fact that they stated there is a 'potential' acquisition but absolutely no further information.
I'd guess (for fear of potential penalty imposed) it would be taken that it is factual.

As for proof of it being factual and real, the ASX don't seem to require this.
So that leaves ASIC
