I'm guessing he means they buy illiquid stocks in which few apart from them trades. So if the fund has to be wound up, or unlisted sister funds have money pulled out of those positions, they won't find enough buyers and have to close out their positions at terrible losses.
I'm not sure I'd agree with it though!
