    Hey Benrich

The red mud which in bauxite mining can have low levels of radiation and heavy minerals funnily enough is naturally occurring so your point is rather inane, it’s only an issue if it washes into waterways it erodes peoples and animals health. In Situ it is perfectly fine going to the smelters perfectly fine the main part to get right is to leave fertile top soil to the side for rehabilitation once the ore body is removed and sent off for processing. The area they already mined they took photos that showed it was back to pristine farmland. Red mud all around malaysia due to a free for all is a different story.
In general this area’s ecosystem has been bull dozed and turned into farm land anyway so there is no real additional
Environmental impact other than if water ways are polluted or the farm land becomes a waste land due to poor rehabilitation practices
    Which I find highly unlikely.
