It should be noted that the data relating to the sensitivity and specificity of RATs is not independently tested prior to TGA approval. TGA rely upon the studies conducted by the company for information on effectiveness as the device classification does not require more rigorous testing. This is why there are now questions around the data regarding the sensitivity of RATs. I can say from personal experience and observation of others I know who have had Covid that RATs are highly ineffective at picking it up.
