I read a lot of announcement and being a dad myself and depend on how much you value your family above money I think his reasons are reasonable, it nothing odd about it, market always spook for this sort of shock announcement
I have taken lesser pay for more time with my kids and I even take leave without pay for them
when you have enough, money is no longer the motive, you can make plenty of money when you have money
you cant make any more family or buy back time with your kids
I admire people making this sort of decision putting family above money
the price now has my interest
