Agree it's definitely possible although he was there 3.5 years. They did appear to complement each other in terms of skill set.
The absence of a CEO and the subsequent "getting up to speed" of a new CEO will potentially cost time. If there were issues between GC/MR and given the short tenure of the previous appointment, a new appointee may want far more than MR is happy to offer. At the moment it looks messy imo.
