The guys is moving on. Clearly not fired as such. Assisted or encouraged perhaps. Also - while Boards are ultimately accountable for hedging policy - i don't know too many that aren't heavily influenced by what the CFO presents. Boards are generally easily led / persuaded - I've not seen many say no or go hard against management direction and advice.
