Vocus gets a cable all to itself. Assuming it gets built, I only see that as a positive.
Google Telstra Singtel etc want another cable so bad they are building one themselves. I think it's a good sign voc's management was forward thinking enough to have gotten there first.
I think we are only seeing the tip of the iceberg as far as data consumption is concerned. Things move fast. The tech companies still have a lot of potential to move into new markets or develop new products - ie what is next for IBM, Facebook, tencent alibaba? As you've pointed out, Microsoft and amazon are missing from the indigo cable. They are bigger than google as far as cloud is concerned. How much of indigo will google use for itself? How much then will all the other tech players need?
Edit: don't mean to exaggerate - my understanding is amazon and Microsoft are huge while google has been lagging. Will stand corrected - but my point is more, don't be scared that google has found itself its own cable, plenty of other big fish to catch, and VOC is the one with capacity to sell
