A couple of thoughts ...
Based on track record, I'd be very surprised if Justin didn't already have a shortlist of replacements.
With this in mind, change is a good thing. A new director (and they will choose the right one) would bring fresh energy, different experiences and their own connections.
Lastly - If this were a larger enterprise this would be considered BAU.
