Are you suggesting Freenet could be bidding for AYS??? Not sure what synergies other than perhaps some IT platforms there would be given the geographical distance to Germany or what return perspectives AYS would offer as a purely financial investment.
It looks rather like Freenet is currently busy with another less lucky investment worth € 700m which is Swiss MNO Sunrise. In March 2016 Freenet acquired the 24.5% stake for 72.95 CHF per share, has been mulling a sale since October 2018 when shares traded for up to 81.00 CHF (now down to 71.00 CHF) and is currently fighting against a controversial takeover of Liberty Global's Swiss subsidiary, Cablecom, proposed by Sunrise which would lead to substantial dillution of Freenet's stake in the latter while the prospects look meager (https://www.reuters.com/article/us-sunrise-m-a-freenet-statement/freenet-says-open-to-talks-after-its-criticism-of-sunrise-upc-deal-idUSKCN1VC1WM).
Against that background I'm not sure if that's the right time for Freenet to start a new adventure in such a competitive and matured market like Australia and if their potential offer would satisfy Langfrist who own almost 20% in AYS acquired at a median purchase price of some $1.21 per share representing an 81% premium on Friday's price.
