That is a joke.
If some Influencers were charging to much then use others.
It is NO DIFFERENT to any other business. If you are using a contractor to do work and he puts his prices up you shop around.
A deal could have been structured with Influencers on a PERFOMANCED based structure. More results more pay.
If the chairpersons mentality is we will try this and try that product (throwing a dart trying to hit a bullseye) and he has the same strategy with Influencers then to me this is poor business practice.
It would be better to offer HIGH END INFLUENCERS who have a track record a percentage of the upside instead of saying hay we will pay you $30,000 upfront regardless of what you sell. If they are tied in to a percentage of every sale if they are good at what they do they will make more money in the long run.
The Ecommerce space and online sales is expanding at a phenomenal rate, the only thing that has changed is it is getting bigger and bigger. They are now selling cars on line. EVERYTHING IS BEING SOLD ONLINE
The chairperson was the self proclaimed expert and a little hiccup and bump in the road happened and he threw in the towel. This is not the person I want to see as chairperson.
