from a personal reasons perspective I doubt it but personal reasons has been used for all manner of exits by many people from all manner of companies in the past.
I truly hope all is well with him and his family. perhaps whatever it is means he just can't devote the time and travel needed in the next little while.
and I hope he hasn't been headhunted.
