Yes Sabine is spot-on! Samantha Hogg has just been appointed chair of the company that will be setting up the new Bass-Link cable across Bass Strait, which is a project with budget between $3-4 billion that the commonwealth government has just announced it will help underwrite, so its just gone from a maybe project to being a goer. So unfortunately we lose a very experienced board member, but for very good reason. although it would have been a little nicer if DEG actually gave the reason for the departure as that would have both allayed shareholder fears and better informed the market. Maybe she just didn't tell them? . But they will certainly have to find another highly capable board member now to meet the requirements set out by standards of gender balance expected of ASX200 companies and the investing guidelines on many institutions these days. Hopefully soon, although I'm always amused at the hypocrisy of an investment vehicle demanding a gender balance on the board at the same time as shorting the stock to manipulate the market and screw over the retail holders!
