Ann: ResMed Announces Results for the Fourth Quarter of FY2023, page-255

Bought a few today. Some interesting comments through here, thank you. Don't purport to know much about the business or the industry. Note though that the majority view on the recent price fall seems to be based on the impact of new weight-loss drugs.

Without wishing bad things on anyone I offer the following thoughts:
1. Search on "downside of new weight loss drugs" and you will find plenty.
2. The drugs are appetite suppressants not fat vapourisers. Do we really believe all those with obesity eat because they feel hungry?
3. Anything new has the potential to be accommodated (notwithstanding someone's excellent story about Windows in an earlier post). Thus I recall being in a General Surgeon's rooms a year or two back and seeing a note on the table saying folks who had banding (band round the stomach to restrict capacity) and wanted it released in advance of a particular event would be charged x. I was appalled....
4. Even if the new drugs are like Windows and change the world I suspect that will take a while to work through.

Lets see how it rolls.....
